Here is a food for thought: What is that one important contribution of humans to our ecosystems?
An honest probe would perhaps yield no answer.
In a globalized world like ours, the need to think `local` is emerging
more than ever. Our consumer habits, our technologies and our ways of
living may have a huge local impact in some other part of the world
that we may not even be aware of it.
How can a small farmer in Rajasthan be influenced by the USA oil
crisis? How is it possible that a change in a tribal economy can
modify the trend of European recession? What's the link between these
stories? The answer is simple: Globalization. Globalization is now
making every many local stories a story of global development.
It's only when we become clear about our impacts that we are then able
to redefine ours ways of thinking. The big issue is: can we do that?
