Hitting the ground running !
02/6/2014
One thing about any classroom is the palpable sense of freedom. Freedom to make anything one desires out of those 60 minutes, with the information being offered by passionate educators. Freedom to be who you are, to the best of your abilities.
Hide it under a Bushel oh No, i'M going to let it shine ...!
True educators are not impressed easily, its not about who you are, its about what you make of those 60 minutes ... ! Its not even about impressing them or each other here ... we are here ( and let me me speak for all of us ) because we want to to know, because we are curious, because we want to Grow.
Growth ...
Our First Exposure to Agenda for Survival June 2014 came in the Shape of Aditya Batra, who has very many articles to his credit, one being the the interview of Karma Tshiteem, the secretary of Bhutan's Planning commission which is also called Gross National Happiness Commission which captures the aspirations of the people and is a tool used to better design the policies of Governance, to ensure that these policies are in harmony with the people of Bhutan.
Growth ... has to be all inclusive
Us - Them , Rich - Poor , Urban - Rural , so Growth and Development is on whose side of the Line? Who are the untouchables here ? 60 % of India's people depend of her land, forests and water bodies for their livelihood and sustenance. And 80% of their entire income comes from these natural resources.. Is it then not clear as to how our current definition of development is slightly skewed? Is it then also not very clear that it isn't about us or them ?
Growth .. and the conflict around it
It is this very misunderstanding that leads us into conflict. Conflict over access to India's resources, conflict over equity of access, conflict over the resolution of these very conflicts.
Let us hope, that in these next 30 days we come to understand the situation more clearly, that we are encouraged by the efforts already being undertaken and that we each, in our own little way, arrive at our individual input towards this larger cause.
"Whose woods these are i think i know
his house is in the valley below .......
....... this woods are lovely dark and deep
and i have promises to keep
and miles to go before i sleep
and miles to go before i sleep '
Lets preserve those woods ...
