Firstly I have never agreed with the school of thought that focuses completely on environmental protection and the restriction of industrialisation and private industry. This is something that makes no sense to me. It is for this reason that I enjoyed and completely agreed with the first two of our lectures yesterday. The first was conducted by Sanjay Upadhyay, an environmental lawyer with the Supreme Court and the second, was conducted by D D Basu, a retired bureaucrat. My understanding of the two lectures was that Sanjay and Mr. Basu, were both speaking of the need to draft and pass foolproof policies and laws to do with the environment. Policies, that don’t completely remove industry OR agriculture, but focus on establishing a symbiotic relationship between the people, the environment and the economy. This I think is important, because not only would it generate employment (with the implementation and enforcement of the right policies)but it would boost the economy. But, i’m not going to go into the details of all of this right now. All this talk of policy and law so late at night isn’t too good an idea. Ha.

After the lecture we went up to the CSE canteen to eat lunch. A pretty wholesome meal, followed, by the most beautiful Mango milkshake I have ever had. Seriously. It was perfect. After the lunch we went back down to the classroom to listen to Shivam Vij, the co-founder of Kafila.org.

Shivam came to CSE to tell us about the various platforms that can be used to promote a campaign. How to design that campaign and how to make sure it appeals to the general public. To tell you the truth I, I didn’t really know what to expect. Shivam came off as a pretty upfront guy. He shot from the hip and didn’t beat around the bush. He was frank and to the point and told us what would appeal to people, what wouldn’t and how to make things interesting for the target audience. I thought it was pretty cool that he was so to the point. That, I think, is quality all people should have. Think about the amount of time we’d save. Haha.
